Thalaivaa Tamil Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Meena Iyer Site:TimesOfIndia (TOI)
Thalaivaa is inspired by Nayakkan and Sarkar. Thoughtfully the director thanks makers like Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma at the start. This film is a good attempt to rehash the mafia tales of yore. And Mumbai has been used more effectively here than in most Bollywood movies. However, it's failing is the length. At three hours and two minutes, the movie tests your patience. Vijay is in top form when he's normal and menacing. Sathyaraj as the don is effective. But the one who makes this arduous journey enjoyable is Santhanam, whose poker-faced humour provides relief in a largely grim story.

Overall, although slow at the start and missing in some of its character backstories, the film makes up for it with few unexpected turns of events. It is not an overtly commercial film made for those who expect equal parts romance, comedy and action, but a more commercially lighter look at the ‘Godfather’ genre. Verdict: A different Vijay offering with enough impactful scenes, which takes its time to build up.

One does tend to loseinterest at some points. Had he worked a little harder on the execution, Thalaivaa would have gone places.GV.Prakash's songs might have done wonders, but his BGM is totallyout of place. The excitement in someinteresting scenes has been broughtdown by the bland background score. One had to wait long for the Thalaivaa theme, and it has been putto worst use at the climax.Thalaivaa is not the normal racy entertainer you will expect from Vijay. It is a movie which travels on aslower note, peppered with morale values and lessons to learn. It will entertain you and at the same time, enlighten you. A different Vijay film, by any means. Verdict : A slow film with a good amount of substance. More class, less mass.

The film is very slow in pace throughout the movie. The romantic episodes with Amala Paul are cute and lovely especially during the dance practice between the love duo. this film is inspired by Nayagan and Hindi film Saktar. The screen play is slow. Don’t expect a very pacy screen play like Thuppakki however he put great twist in the films. Look out for the one before the interval. Performances and scenes were okay. One can feel that he is better doing subjective films like Theivathirumagan and Madrasipattinam. To end it up, Thalaiva is strictly for Vijay fans. Do not keep Thuppaki in mind while watching the movie.

Anna Born To Lead Telugu Movie Review

Ratings:2/5 Review By: Venkat Site:GreatAndhra
Director failed in all the ways in projecting the protagonist as hero. The love track in first half need not be made so lengthy. He could have given interval 20 minutes before itself. The director couldn’t reach the expectations even with second half by giving real elevation for Anna. There will be many films with 3 hours duration, but Anna is a 3 hour film which gives an experience to audience that they have watched a movie with 3 days duration. Though the openings are good due to no direct releases, the result need not be predicted again. Bottom Line: Painful

Titles with revolutionary thinkers pics is nice attempt by director Vijay. Vijay due to some reasons returns to Mumbai, sees ahuge planning and security behind his father. The build up is the best part of the movie till now. Till interval movie starts off with a routine narration but things build up fine just before interval. Super hit track from Anna single king is nicely shot on vijay and santhanam.
